Roxys/Oxys

Here is a link of what's going in nationwide, but it's a really big concern here in south Florida.

Click this link and read about the oxycodone abuse that is happening right here in our backyard.  I know the government/DEA is working on a database to track pharmacies and doctors prescribing this medication, but I believe that there could be some kind of new technology that could give certain people up-to-date information on who is filling, writing, or doing anything with these and/or other abused drugs.  It's really a problem in the state of Florida.  Things need to be implemented ASAP to ensure a safer work environment for all that work in pharmacies where patients/customers try to fill these scripts.  What are your thoughts on this article?

  1. I agree that Oxycodone abuse has been increased nationwide specially in Florida and Michigan. However, it is not only the abuse of oxycodone but also there are many more drugs which is being abused by people on the street. Day by day, this concern is getting bigger and bigger, and enviroment is getting more dangerous. The latest example is a Heaven Drugs Pharmacy in Long Island where the gunman murdered four persons because he wanted oxycodone pills. Therefore, as Melvin said, some type of system needs to be in plance in order to make this enviroment as safer as it can be.

  2. You are definitely correct Nirav. If things don't get better and better fast. More events like Heaven Drugs will be happening in the near future.

  3. That was a good article Melvin, and I hope something can be done soon to stop this prescription drug abuse in south Florida. I believe that south Florida has the highest rate of prescription drug abuse and we definitely need a prescription drug monitoring program as soon as possible. I think there is a delay because it was supposed to come into effect at the end of last year (I believe). People are getting desperate to get roxys/oxys and innocent lives are being lost. This is a sad situation for us all that live in south Florida, but I hope it gets better when we get out into the working field.
