I have searched the internet to look up another valid article suitable for this class. Some of my blogs were just related to health information rather than health/medical informatics. This article I am about to post for everyone to read was about anesthesiology residents and fellows at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine switch from paper to having an iPAD for their rounds and things for the hospital time. I feel this groundbreaking in the profession of healthcare period. The article states that the residents and fellows are able now to watch live videos of things that are going on now to get a better learning privileges. I know some people may think that HIPAA could be violated, but I believe if it is used for educational purposes then I don't see any problems. I believe this direction for all healthcare professionals to go in would be great! Check it out!

Hey Melvin,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the use of Ipads in the health care setting is a great advantage for both patient and provider. Thanks for the article it was really interesting. I only wish NSU would reallocate funds for us to purchace ipads and get rid of the need for hard copy textbooks. This is the way in which the health care industry is moving and I am ready to get on board as well. As far as the HIPAA violation, I'm sure it really won't be that big of an issue, it does the patient more benefit than harm to have all their info with a click of a button. I know I would want my doctor to have all my info consolidated and easily accessable, it will free up his time to consentrate on more important things about my health status. Anyways, thanks again.
I would love the idea of NSU giving us Ipads in replace of hard copy text books. I really think that times are changing and books are being outdated and updated every year. What is the point of this? Why not just have everything online where updates can be fast! Today in lab, our teacher was looking through a book about a contraindication of a medication, and could not find what was found on the internet. Just so happens that this contraindication was recently added and the book is now outdated. The use of Ipads around pharmacies and hospitals would greatly enhance the healthcare process and allow residence an opportunity for higher learning. Thanks for the article!
